Potter County seeks cash plan to dodge warrants
Potter County officials aim to curb warrant issuance by boosting liberal tax receipts before October 30 when levies are due. On Monday the county borrowed 28 000 dollars from First National Bank to cover warrants issued since March 4, if not already discounted. They may be cashed at the treasurer and bank at face value. Officials say continued strict economy and strong receipts could prevent more warrants. The county also received 670 dollars from the State Highway Department for four miles of right of way on Highway No. 5 north of Amario as work awaits funds to widen and retop the road. An Equalization Board was organized by the county judge and commission to review tax assessments, with final rate decisions due in August.
