Increase pay for election judges and clerks in county elections

County commissioners voted to raise pay from 50 cents to 75 cents per hour for election judges and clerks, effective immediately, after County Clerk Loren Jones said a shortage of workers plagued last Saturday's election. Jones noted city and school workers earn 9 dollars per day, and County Attorney John Peterson said the higher rate has no legal obstacle. The motion by Commissioner John Halley, seconded by Commissioner Jack Swann, passed unanimously.
