County Rejects Deal For 66 Right of Way
County commissioners rejected the $7.11 award to Joe Gray of Bushland for about six acres needed to widen and reroute Highway 66 west of Amarillo. A special three member commission had awarded Gray $611 for the acreage and $6,500 for damages, but local officials objected. The case, filed by Peterson after failed valuation talks, next goes to a county court jury with potential appeal to the Seventh Court of Civil Appeals.

Hubert Clark Ralson age 18 dies after a auto accident near New Haven Connecticut. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 4 pm at First Baptist Church with Dr Bill Marshall of Wayland College officiating assisted by Dr Francis Pritchard. Burial in Llano Cemetery under Blackburn Shaw Funeral Home direction. He was a 1949 graduate and the son of Mr and Mrs John Ralson of 2111 Monroe. Memorials held at Yale University Chapel earlier today.

Woodward Pair Killed in Plane Crash Report
In Woodward Oklahoma two local businessmen died when their plane crashed between the Santa Fe tracks and State Highway 15 near Curtis east of the city. R C Van Nostrand, 45, owner of Woodward Monument Works, and Tom Johnson, 55, a salesman who had moved from Alva, were identified among the dead. The craft departed Tulsa yesterday afternoon and was found in rough hillside terrain after witnesses, including farmer Edwin Johnson, heard no approach. Mrs Van Nostrand had phoned friends stating concern over her husband’s failure to return.
