Tornado Devastates Perryton Leaving One Dead
A Perryton tornado last night killed Bill Klinge, 32, and injured several others including D. P. Lambert, 72, and F. M. Batson, 50. The storm damaged the Klinge home and dozens of buildings, with gusts reaching up to 90 mph in the area. Rescue crews worked through the night as power lines failed and debris cluttered streets.

A baby boy born at 8:15 p.m. at St. Anthony's Hospital to Mrs. E. M. Culwell of East Twenty third. She came from Maracaibo Venezuela for the birth and has had two prior sons. Her husband works as an engineer for Creole Petroleum Co. in Maracaibo. The child makes three sons, all Texans, mirroring the father. The nurse staff note Mrs. Culwell’s wish for all sons to be Texans like their father.

Tornado Strikes South of Amarillo Injuring Woman
A wind of tornadic force hit 5 miles southwest of Amarillo around 7:30 pm injuring Mrs. Art Knorpp 52. She was knocked unconscious and bruised, found by son Jimmie Tom 13 near the house on Cartyon Highway. Her condition improved by morning. Knorpp, a truck and combine operator, had briefly left Perryton before the twister. The home site, opposite Bowmans Nursery, lost all farm machinery, echoing May tornado destruction nearby.

In downtown Pittsburgh a lightning bolt struck a street car during a storm, starting a fire and wounding 23 passengers. Fire and medical teams treated burns, cuts, and shock as people rushed to escape through jammed doors and shattered windows. A 20 year old clerical worker described a wall of flame and a floor fall.

Panhandle population up only slightly in new census
