Several Republican senators say General Marshall acted with courage to return without a full agreement at Moscow. They credit his diplomacy for exposing Soviet tactics and uniting Britain and France with U S policy while Russia pushed for unrewarded concessions. In a lab scene the professor explains an operation on Joe the old ape. Joe ambulates with a limp, drinks from a water faucet, and then inverts a stagnated tray, squirting water over the observer. The dialogue questions whether apes reflect human intelligence or mirror scientists expectations.
A reflective piece recalls neighborhood jokes from childhood and family life.
