Qualified voters in the Amarillo Independent School District may vote Saturday in the school board election. Property ownership is not required. voters must show state and county poll tax receipts or exemption certificates. Poll taxes were due January 31. unpaid voters cannot cast ballots. School taxes do not qualify a voter, though recent legislation accrues 10 percent interest from February 1. Any resident in Randall County within the AISD may vote if otherwise qualified.

Mrs. Billie M. Sloan operating a rooming house identified George Fox and Nona Fox and described a third man as the defendants face trial for robbery. Sloan testified McVeigh was robbed of 73 dollars, a Tulsa bus ticket, a purse and naval discharge papers after being lured to the room. The defense had claimed a card game netted 645 dollars shared among the trio.

Dr C A Williams of Gruver lay unconscious in a Borger hospital after a paralytic stroke caused by exposure when a car stalled in a Sunday snowstorm near Morse thirty miles north of Borger. His companion W Weinberg of Gruver survived. they were rescued yesterday morning from a snow drifted ditch.
Eight people died when a transport plane crashed near Emporia Kansas today including a Notre Dame football coach. Officials said the coach was among the dead in the midwestern accident and investigators began assessing the scene and cause.
President Hoover stated there will be no tax increase unless Congress raises budget figures. He reviewed government finances and said no need to raise taxes, urging public cooperation to resist sectional demands and hold back expenditures.
A D Heisey, 46, a steel worker on the Santa Fe bridge project 19 miles north of Amarillo, fell 85 feet to the river bed this morning. He died en route to a local hospital. his bones were crushed and he never regained consciousness. He lived at 572 Louisiana and had moved from Chicago with his family last week. He is survived by his wife and four daughters, plus a brother and two sisters. Funeral plans likely to send the body to Ohio for services.
Homer Altman a 26 year old tenant farmer was found guilty of murdering his former landlord Sam Tanner in the 89th District Court. He received a ten year sentence after claiming unwritten law alleging Tanner made improper advances toward his wife. Tanner was killed in his hog pen on February 25.
About 76 insurance company representatives urged the State Insurance Commission in Austin to raise casualty insurance rates, arguing companies have been losing money.
Mrs. Ira FE Cunningham reports the Loewenstern family at 2218 Hayden Street were overcome by gas last Saturday dawn. The five family members and the housekeeper are nearly recovered by noon today.
