News of the administration and Brannan backed farm bill details stirs opposition and cabinet talks. Vice President Barkley reportedly sought updates at the Little White House but no decision was given. The Senate passed the measure March 24 by a slim margin and lawmakers anticipate a veto battle. The bill tightens price supports for potatoes and ends potato subsidies in 1951 while allowing 1.2 million extra cotton acres under controls.
