Sergeant Chelf, a 12 year Army veteran from Ft Warren Wyoming, fought across Europe from North Africa to Normandy and Aachen. He earned the Purple Heart with three clusters, the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Pacific and ETO ribbons for eight campaigns and three invasions. He set up an advanced observation post in France aiding the rout of a full enemy platoon. He collected insignias in Casablanca and saw the Big Three Conference. He is hospitalized in Amarillo for a leg injury but plans to remain in the Army.
