Unconfirmed radio reports said 2,000 German surrenders per hour amid mass captures by U S First and Third Armies totaling over 33,000 in one day. More than 2,300 U S Fourth Air Force planes hit Bremen Hamburg and Wilhelmshaven in a record air attack on German naval bases.
