Emaciated Prisoners Freed By U S Seventh Army

HEPPENHEIM Germany March 27 Eleven hundred emaciated prisoners including 290 wounded Americans were freed as the U S Seventh Army captured the town. They described filthy conditions and a starvation diet averaging 700 calories daily, far below hospital rations, with some losing up to 100 pounds. Only 10 deaths occurred in two months despite the extreme hunger.

Hanson Post of Legion Plans Membership Drive

Hanson Post, the third largest American Legion post in Texas, will hold a two day membership campaign Friday and Saturday.
