Retailing Career Advised for Women
Market ing is one field in which women often have a better chance than men for key positions and the five figure salaries that go with them. Prof. C. W. Barker of Indiana University says retailing is the best paying field for women due to numerous salaried roles. A woman starting as a sales trainee at a large department store could begin about $40 a week, rising to $60-$90 weekly after training, then to roles like assistant buyer or supervisor of sales clerks. Salaries for buyers and fashion specialists range from $5,000 to $15,000 annually with higher pay for executive positions.
