In Amarillo a new boom era began as 15 carpenters began rebuilding the air base, with over 250 job seekers present. A Del Webb Construction field office will require few workers initially, while the main barracks project is expected to draw up to a thousand hires. Thought He Was a Red Shooting Suspect in Amarillo Cafe
Joe Wing Chung, a 46 year old Chinese American cafe worker, was shot three times at Wing Lee Cafe in Amarillo and remained in serious but non critical condition. Ernest T. Kimble, 1005 Bryan, was charged with assault with intent to murder and held without bond after arraignment. Police recovered a 9mm Luger at the scene and described Kimble as a police character.
