Oklahoma City March 19 A stay of execution was granted to Colquitt Davis 20 formerly of Amarillo Tex for the death of Don Keirsey Carter County deputy sheriff in a December 10 gun battle. The stay first respite by Gov W H Murray was issued with no time limit and preserves a review right. Davis brother D I Davis was killed by officers near Wichita Kans three days later he surrendered near Amarillo Tex. Davis had been sentenced to death after an Ardmore jury failed to assess the penalty. Attorney Stephen A George Ardmore mayor said an appeal would be filed by Monday.
