Paroled convict Leo Delgoda told Chicago police and prison authorities that Nathan Leopold Jr. financed a plan to empty Joliet Penitentiary by poisoning guards with arsenic in coffee, to enable an inmate breakout and flee to Detroit, Canada, and Mexico. The scheme also involved other Mexican-born prisoners and several other inmates, with Leopold allegedly losing courage at the crime scene.

Four men held after the cashier, Hardy’s cousin, and Sheriff Smith identified them. Hardy says a fifth band member is still at large in this territory.
The Texas House adopted the Wassell resolution calling for a constitutional amendment to abolish the peace office fee system and provide salaries instead. If the senate approves and he governor signs, the proposal would go to a public vote on the first Monday in August.
The Fulbright State bank opens in Fulbright with 17500 capital stock. Charles A. Austin state banking commissioner announced the launch. The new bank takes over all business and assumes liabilities of the Guarantee State bank which failed on December 29.
Artie Brocksmith age 4 months, daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Brocksmith of Kurten, fell into an open fireplace at their home ten miles from Bryan and died last night from Burns.
In Detroit March 15 the Ku Klux Klan and allied groups were quizzed amid the $1,090,000 libel suit against Henry Ford. Crowds hoped to see Ford but he would appear when needed, announced defense chief Sen James Reed. The case centers on Aaron Sapiro as plaintiff in the libel action Ford faces.
New York American reports Edward W. Browning won his suit in White Plains court. Justice Alf Seeger, who presided over the Jon Browning separation case, called a New York American claim that he had rendered a decision in the case a lie.

Morgan C. Edgar a 66 year old New York lawyer leaped from the Leviathan while the liner was at anchor at quarantine in New York. A lifeboat was lowered and a search of the waters was conducted but Edgar was not recovered. The Leviathan had just arrived from Europe.
Dr. Thomsen of Central Presbyterian told Lions' Club members that Jeff Bartlett city manager allowed park dumping in Sanborn park between Fourteenth and Fifteenth streets and Fillmore and Taylor. Commissioner Fisk echoed concern over the loss of grass as city plans for park beautification and local facilities were discussed.
The Texas senate rolled back the clock to extend life for several bills including the tobacco tax, which opponents vow to fight if moved forward. El Paso March 15 A byword in El Paso as the fifty first Cattlemen's convention favors Amarillo to host the next gathering. Delegates claim Amarillo leads after today’s opening meeting with President Kleberg predicting the Houston Amarillo contest favors Amarillo.
Fred Calvert, living with Donna Guffin as his partner though not married, testifies he saw Park in the act of slaying on January 1 at the St Charles apartment annex. Calvert says he has a legal wife in St. Louis and denies knowing Russell Park prior to the incident as legal proceedings proceed in district court.
Calvert testified he saw Park shoot Donna Guffino after a car-key errand. He claimed Park shot him while intervening, then remarked he would shoot him too. Calvert, unarmed, crawled to safety and later to hospital. Evidence featured heated objections as the defense questioned the witness.
Fire of undetermined origin destroys the Paramount Oil Corporation No 1 Sanford rig in Section Block 46 Hutchinson county. The well had been swabbed for weeks and was producing about 400 levels a day after completion in late January. The Paramount area of Hutchinson county faces intensifying play.
