Canadian Holds On To Pistol
For almost a week Amarillo Sheriff Bill Adams Canyon Sheriff M E Cantrell and rangers probed the Canadian River near Amarillo seeking a pistol cast into the water in the hunt for a murder investigation. Diversions of the river channel and heavy pumping failed to recover the weapon though equipment from the Lions Bridge Co and Bell and Braden aided the search. The man who claimed to have tossed the gun watched the operation and hinted at its location while quicksand and spring water hindered progress. Authorities persist with the aid of Grand Jury observer Foreman Blythe and commissioners Killian Barker and Braden providing gear.
