Mistaken Release Frees Murder Suspect in Chicago
In Chicago on June 25, James L. White 33 was released by error from Cook County Jail where he faced a murder charge. Jail clerk Edward Urban was fired after the mistake was found. White had been held on rape charges, bond set at 5000 dollars. The release occurred when a brother with bond money asked about release and received no questions, but the real murder suspect remained in custody. The incident involved a mix up with the day room and names in the same day room.
