Heavy rainfall sweeps Amarillo area with record moisture

Showers yesterday afternoon and this morning brought the heaviest rainfall since mid January across the Panhandle, 0.72 inches since 3 PM yesterday with 0.55 inches today. Cool air dropped temperatures 39 degrees, high hit 91 yesterday, 52 this morning. Forecasters expect clearing and rising temperatures. wheat yields may suffer slight losses though fields will dry quickly. Water supply relief noted as two new wells to produce two million gallons daily by Friday.
