Ten Borger Men Burned in Gas Line Explosion
Porger June 14 Ten persons were burned today in an explosion at a carbon plant caused when a worker turned a gas line valve the wrong direction. Bruce Stuart plant manager said one employee told him of the incident. Instead of closing the valve the man opened it letting gas seep from a four inch line. Pressure was two ounces but the valve was open two hours before a crew carrying torches approached. As the men stepped between the gas filled building and another there was a blinding flash. The men belonged to a tip cleaning crew. Burns of two were described as extremely painful.
