Winterhaler ex-auditor held for embezzlement in Amarillo

Charles H Winterhaler 35 former city manager auditor of Amarillo was jailed on embezzlement charges connected to city funds. Indicted by the Potter County grand jury amid audit findings claiming 964 10 owed to the city. He said he charged items to expenses he could have billed as city manager and later took them himself. Bond set at 1500. He earlier left Amarillo January 15 after a short tenure and sought a loan to cover the debts.

Mason King tour manager says paid reservations are piling up for a good will all expenses trip to Chicago June 25 to July 2. Wilbur Hawk sponsors with a 75 dollar all inclusive price from Amarillo. Reservations require $10 to hold and balance by June 20, with six days at the exposition scheduled.

Longest over water flight lands in Cuba from Seville

Capt. Mariano Barberan and Lieutenant Joaquin Collar of the Spanish air force completed a 4906 mile journey from Seville to Cuba in 40 hours and 3 minutes, over 4700 miles of which were water. They head for Havana at 2 PM to be received by President Gerardo Machado before continuing to Mexico City. The Columbia monoplane meanwhile departs Floyd Bennett Field on a 2400 mile goodwill flight toward Haiti with Capt. J Errol Boyd, Robert Lyon, and Harold Davis aboard, planning to drop flowers over Havana in memory of Wilmer Stutz.

Four Dead In Wake Of Wind At Lake Front

Four persons are dead and at least one missing after a violent windstorm hit Houghton Lake on Sunday. The tragedy swamped two score boats as resorters fled the heat. The known dead include Robert Walcott of Charlotte John Townsend and his son Francis of Alma and Florence Labudo of Saginaw. Authorities feared more fatalities as cottages are checked.

Burglars Strike Kenyon Grain & Seed Company

Burglars late Sunday night entered the Kenyon Grain and Seed Company's property at 93 North Polk Street, stripped a truck and took additional loot. Five suspects were arrested by police. charges likely to be filed on Monday.
