The Dallas barbers college filed the suit, with hearings ongoing in district court.
Dim m itt Texas June 9 Barrett charged with murder in the shooting death of Nora Barrett 20 found in her yard. Sheriff Flanagin and county attorney Dean oppose bail for Barrett saying he will fight it. Barrett reportedly said it was a fuss between himself and his daughter in law.
A Kemp Creek flood swept through nine miles north of Turkey Texas drowning three Fuston children Reon nine Kelsay thirteen and Cleone eleven their mother survived clinging to a tree. bodies found downstream as rescue work continued. The house shifted seven feet and neighboring homes were damaged while the father and another son were away.
Scores of tents appeared on vacant Reno lots as the divorce colony swelled beyond capacity after 88 suits filed and 15 pending. The city council revoked an old hotel-rate law to cope with the influx while divorces, gamblers, sightseers, and tourists crowded the area. Holman Kennedy and other bankers were elected to regional posts at a Panhandle Bankers Association meeting, and W. A. Philpott won the 1931 Texas bankers golf championship with a 77.

Joe Taylor a part Indian suspect in the Davis brothers bandit car sits in Amarillo city jail awaiting a robbery with firearms charge to be presented before a grand jury. Identified by two store employees as driver of the car used in the Amarillo holdups, he claims an alibi and says he was in Olney Texas during the incidents. December events linked to Wichita Falls and Wichita gun battles are noted.
Amarillo residents prepare for an all passenger Santa Fe train from its station at 7 a.m. to Boise City on the new Boise City line. Participants seek goodwill and business in the Oklahoma strip, differing from classic land rushes.
Tickets for the Boise City ex cursion may be obtained at the station Wednesday morning announced by Wilbur C. Hawk. Many women are making the trip and those who can are urged to be at the station tomorrow morning at 7 to join the good will party. Round trip tickets are 5.25 dollars. Mayor Ernest QO Thompson Wilbur C Hawk Col E R Tack Mason King and Henry Ansley will head the Amarillo delegation with the 142nd Infantry Band providing music.
Fred McJunkin aged 47 former part owner of the Dallas baseball club and veteran hotel operator in Dallas died in a local hospital after a brief illness He had long battled heart disease and was a native of Anderson in Grimes County Texas
The chamber of commerce publicity committee held a noon session in the Red Room of the Amarillo Hotel to discuss national magazine advertising for Amarillo for the summer and fall with Ross Rogers presiding as chairman.
J Perry Burrus of Dallas told the Panhandle Bankers Association that Texas could rank second or first in wheat production within a decade. He urged acreage reduction in larger states and praised the farm board while predicting it may delay selling 300 million bushels of wheat until after next year’s presidential elections.
Bids were received today by the State Board of Control on 100000 cigaret stamps for enforcement of Texas cigaret tax which takes effect at midnight August 21 22. All cigarets sold after that time must bear the state tax paid stamp.

Manhattan Kansas June 9 c B Denman of the Federal Farm Board urged livestock men to adjust operations to consumer demand. He warned new producers enter when profitable and exit when unprofitable, causing supply swings and distribution inefficiencies. Regulation of importation and breeding was urged with lighter hog weights to meet market demand.
Two armed men bound and gagged Morris Levine, owner of Lido Jewels Inc., on Madison Avenue in New York. They escaped with jewelry valued at $20,000 after the robbery. Authorities search for suspects as investigators review the case.
A grandstand at Marquette Park in Gary collapsed during the city’s 25th anniversary pageant, injuring more than 50 people. Thirteen were hospitalized with serious injuries while about 40 received first aid on site. Authorities cited recent heavy rains weakening the foundation of the sand-backed structure.
