Emilio Cortes Rubio 20 and Manuel Gomez 17 were shot by Deputy Sheriff Bill Guess after being confronted on a residential Ardmore street. Salvador Cortes Rubio 24, detained as a witness, said the trio planned to buy weapons in the United States and take them to Mexico City. An investigation and weapon recovery followed. no action against the officers yet.
Canada and Soviet Russia reduced their American purchases in April from the year before while Britain India showed growth. Canada bought $44,850,629 of U S goods in April 1931 vs $64,000,274 in 1930, and exports to Canada were $33,343,539 while imports from Canada totaled $23,756,856. Russia bought $6,786,831 in exports and $926,292 in imports, down from 1930 levels.

Amarillo driver A E Trammell and passenger Mrs Martha Johnson recounted a Sunday bus robbery near Shamrock in which seven bandits seized 668 in cash and 273 in jewelry from 18 travelers. Police arrested three suspects near Dalhart and two more were detained at Shamrock as the hunt spread across Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.

Over 100 firms pledged to send reps Wednesday, but only 19 had sent checks. 125 checks due by Tuesday at 4 pm to avoid cancellation. Round trip fare is 5 dollars 25 cents. depart 7 am and return by 10 pm with Boise City and Stratford holding celebrations.
The Amarillo Chamber of Commerce advertises a special round trip train leaving Amarillo Wednesday morning June 10 at 7 AM to Stratford and Boise City with return by 10 PM. Fare is $5.25. Reservations through Mason King or the chamber.
Fort Worth independent operators Ed Landreth and C F Roeser addressed about 200 Texas operators in Dallas to form a new permanent organization. They aim to supersede the Independent Petroleum Association of Texas and urge Governor Sterling to call a special legislative session. In Austin, more than 200 applicants began the Texas bar exams with 23 subjects.

Joe Taylor age 17 identified by two store employees as the driver in the Davis Brothers bandit car and is jailed in Amarillo on robbery with firearms charges. Sheriff Bill Thompson and Police Chief W R McDowell brought him from Wichita Falls. he denies involvement with Colquitt and D L Davis and claims he was in Olney Texas during the December 11 hold ups. Taylor, known as Cherokee Joe, is not widely known by that nickname.
Chicago reports that U S government officials are tracing an estimated 1 038 654 Capone earned between 1924 and 1920 0 and preparing to seize assets once found. The case seeks conviction for income tax evasion while liens to cover the debt and property are planned.
