Buying Power Of Per Capita Money Lower
Henry H. Heimann, treasurer of Kawneer Co, told the National Association of Credit Men in Louisville that per capita money in 1926 had buying power of $27.90, down from $33.66 in 1900 when adjusted to 1913 dollars, due to greater wealth and broader credit use. He credited the Federal Reserve System and sound credit regulation with stabilizing business and preventing panic while wealth and production expanded.

Higher Court Dismisses Goss Appeal in Murder Case
The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals ruled that accepting executive clemency while an appeal is pending bars further prosecution of the appeal. S. E. Goss of Fannin County, convicted in Hunt County for murder and sentenced to 25 years, had his sentence commuted to two years by Governor Miriam A. Ferguson. The court rejected his claim that the two year term is effectively a release, and dismissed the appeal for lack of right to proceed. A bond pending appeal was also struck down.
