Bank Robbery Suspects Nabbed in Panhandle Trio Held in Groom Loot Case

Amarillo police identify three suspects in the $1,200 theft from the State National Bank of Groom. Frenchie Richards, Frances Richards alias Fannie Gillispie, and Betty Ducett alias Betty Gillispie were arrested in Panhandle by Deputy Sheriff Allen Johnson and Amarillo officer Frank Gamblin. Authorities photographed fingerprints and pursue charges as witnesses describe the late night party and the brick dust on clothing.

Moody Seeks September 1 Special Session for Texas Legislature

Ranger Completes Texas Prison System Investigation

A Texas ranger finished examining conditions in a Texas prison branch other than Huntsville. Governor Moody may or may not release the report. A prior investigation on cruelty charges by M. L. Smith of San Antonio is under advisement, with a secret second probe on a rumored prison plant mutiny.

Three Jurors Named in Stratton Murder Trial

Three jurors were accepted to try Ben W. Stratton for murder in the April 21 killing of John A. English. The panel included A. T. Anderson, W. J. Blassingame, and Earl W. Ince, all Amarillo residents. Both sides declared ready as District Attorney Flesher anticipated a missing witness, Meredith, arriving tomorrow.

Plans Drawn for New North Amarillo School Unit

North Amarillo unveils plans for a modern second school unit costing 150000 dollars, bringing total school costs to 250000. The Gothic, semi fireproof brick and concrete building will have 45 classrooms, an assembly hall, cafeteria, rest rooms, an emergency hospital room, and space for 1500 students. It will be two stories with a basement, over 300 feet long and 100 feet wide, and located on nearly a full block for playground use.

Actress Doris Doree Branded in Hollywood Break-In

Miss Doris Doree, 21, an actress seen in An American Tragedy, was attacked in her Hollywood apartment by a man who branded her with the letter K on multiple body parts. The intruder, about 30, believed to be a degenerate or seeking revenge, forced entry after she answered a knock.

Nitro truck blast kills two in Butler area

A truck carrying nitroglycerine exploded on the main road at Lick Hill near Butler, killing two men instantly and injuring twenty others, with three nearby residences destroyed and fifteen damaged by the force of the blast.
