Robert L. Robertson, 44, adjutant general under Gov. Dan Moody, dies in a Lorena Texas auto wreck when his car hits a power line tower. He was on active duty as a lieutenant colonel in the Texas National Guard. Robertson telephoned from Austin to meet colleagues in Waco before disappearing. his body was found near 4 a.m. His brothers from Gonzales head to Waco for the funeral.

Roy Ashley 38, Beaver Dam Wisconsin section worker, died in a Wabasha Minnesota hospital after being shot by Evelyn Brown 15 who he kidnapped from Beaver Dam. Ashley killed the girl after she shot him fatally in the abdomen near Winona while they stopped for radiator water. He confessed to kidnapping the girl Tuesday night and said he planned to flee to Montana with her.
Pickwick Greyhound Lines buses on a transcontinental route were delayed at Hereford as state license inspector John Keller charged a driver with operating a bus wider than eight feet. Eighteen passengers were moved to Safety First Lines for Texas transit. one lodged a suit over the delay.

Judge J D Moore instructed the jury and both sides rested, with alibi defense alleged amid violence aftermath in Sherman where a mob attacked the courthouse and local militia.

Two unidentified bank robbers were mortally wounded after a posse of local businessmen opened fire as they fled the Bank of Mounds. Cashiers Crum and Crews were used as shields but unhurt. loot totaling $600 was recovered.
Currie Caldwell, first of five men indicted for the kidnaping of Robert Cerf, faced trial today while already serving a 12 year sentence for assault with a masked identity. The verdict was returned late yesterday and defense lawyers said an appeal would follow. Others indicted include Jimmie Doyle Nash, Oliver Clapp, and Charles Hassell. Hassell became a key witness for the state. Clapp has not been arrested.
A newly discovered eye witness named Bill Anderson testified in the murder case of Will Moore. A courtroom altercation occurred as special prosecutor Clem C. Calhoun struck defense attorney Dusty Miller after a heated exchange over alleged statements. Judge Henry S. Bishop reviewed the incident as testimony continued.
John E. Deering aged 77 said six men and a woman bound gagged and beat him then set his three room house on fire while searching for money. Neighbors found him in the yard gagged and nearly unconscious from smoke as police arrested six men and four women linked to the plot. The woman had answered Deering’s housekeeper ad and is allied with a known criminal figure.
In Pampa, June 4, Mr. and Mrs. A. Ayers of McLean attempted a New Mexico trip by auto but faced a gas leak explosion after a late return. Ayers entered the burning home to rescue his wife, who also reentered. Both were severely burned, driven to a doctor’s home, and hospitalized.
Charles EB Johnson, once a 1920s escapee from the Nebraska State Penitentiary, returns decades later to serve seven months of a two year robbery sentence. He walked 90 miles from Oakland to Lincoln to fulfill a promise to his Maker and survived a shipwreck near Japan. He is assigned to the vegetable room and given a bunk due to age. The parole board action remains undecided.
Delegations of oil men landowners and royalty owners from the Panhandle attend an Amarillo meeting to discuss the Howsley oil proration bill. Speakers include A. C. Officers of the Independent Petroleum Association of America call for an emergency directors and state vice presidents meeting in Tulsa next Wednesday due to a desperate situation threatening small operators.
Chief W. R. McDowell said Joe Taylor known as Cherokee Joe aided the Davis youths in Amarillo holdups and gunfight actions in Wichita. He rode with Colquitt and D I Davis in the December 11 incidents and later fled, identity previously a mystery. Taylor is charged with robbery with firearms in Potter County district court.
Lisbon June 4 wireless dispatch said the German seaplane Do-X, en route from Lisbon toward Cape Verde to Brazil, reported by Porto Praia stations that it was making normal progress. Earlier sightings claimed a fall on the sea, but subsequent messages confirmed no accident.
