United States producers face broad new Canadian tariffs announced by Premier Bennett on June 2, with 200 products targeted to raise prices for farmers and manufacturers and spur domestic industry. In Texas, civic leaders support orderly East Texas oil field development and ratable production to protect landowners and stabilize prices. An injunction hearing on oil ruling enforcement is planned near Austin as lawmakers tour East Texas fields.
A robbery at the Nelson Drug Store on Van Buren Street and Tenth Avenue yielded 87 dollars Monday night. Police reported the bandit fled south with two companions, aligning with rumors of a youth who has robbed Amarillo drug stores. Clerks George Lowry and Nick West were inside the store during the hold up.

Dr. George Edward Deely a leading ENT specialist was found slain in his Brooklyn home. He was stabbed and struck with a mahogany ball torn from a bedpost as police investigated a likely attack by someone he knew. The house doors were locked and servants slept above unaware of the assault.
The jury for the Sherman riot arson case in Austin is completed with three farmers and nine city residents serving. Defendant J. B. McCasland, 19, faces an arson indictment tied to the May 9 1930 Grayson County Courthouse fire as Judge J. D. Moore prepares to begin testimony after lunch.
Wayne Baker, 15, of four miles northwest of Memphis, died after a 22 caliber rifle discharged while he handled it at Browder's Springs Camp six miles north of Memphis. He was with three other youths, Lewis Foxhall, Jewel McCrary, and Robbie Thomas. He died en route to a Memphis hospital. he leaves parents and five siblings.
Howard Paul, president of the American te Bank, left by automobile for Long Beach California to visit his father Judge J. H. Paul dean of Panhandle bankers who has been ill for some time. Judge Paul is able to be up and about his apartment according to a letter received by friends this morning.
A new petition seeks to stop an election on the gas issue and Favores city control of the gas plant. It lists signatures including C. E. Willmering John Hall R Nickelich and R H Venable. A public hearing on petitions to repeal the resolution to condemn the gas system is set for Friday night June 5 at Municipal Auditorium.
Dallas police report 9 year old James Weldon Brooks drowned when he fell through a valve hole into a large drain pipe at Turtle Creek reservoir. His playmate Buddie Phillips, 6, watched as James toppled into the 30 foot hole near the vent and near the Trinity River. The boy was found by rescue parties early today.
The Seventh Bombardment group with 40 officers and 38 enlisted men, about 35 planes, will land at English Field Thursday noon on its route from Atlantic Coast maneuvers to March Field California. Lieut. W. A. Maxwell plans to prepare Amarillo stop. A Crissy Field observation group stopped here recently on the way to maneuvers.
Philip K. Knapp, from a Syracuse family, arrested in West Orange on a 1926 indictment for the Camp Mills thrill murder of Louis Penella. Traced through fingerprint records, Knapp used the alias Allen Kingsley Phillips while employed by Public Service and married to Elanor Hill. Penella vanished July 4 1925, his taxicab found and linked to Knapp, who had been a coast guard member and army air corps mechanic.
President Hoover appointed Roy St. Lewis district attorney of Oklahoma to be assistant attorney general. Herbert Hyd will succeed Lewis as Oklahoma district attorney.
Armstrong Transfer and Storage Company president Woods Ellison, ill for some time, is reported recovering satisfactorily this morning at his home. Information comes from the family, with no further details available.
