Chicago Hospital Swept by Flames

Eighteen patients were rescued from the blazing Chicago General Hospital after a boiler room fire spread through the four story building. Firemen police physicians and nurses carried terrified patients from the smoke filled wards as the blaze swept the facility.

Jury Is Named in Stallworth Case Before Noon Today

The twelfth juror in the trial of Mrs. Levi P. Stallworth of Amarillo for the slaying of Mrs. Grace Morrison of Plainview was qualified shortly before noon. Evidence began at 1:30 p.m. The venire of 200 was nearly exhausted as Benton King joined 11 others. Mrs. Ethel Roper testified that Morrison screamed at the door and was restrained by Stallworth's mother-in-law before shots were heard outside the Moore Hotel.

Lindy Evades Crowd As Mouette Sails From Woods Hole

Confesses to choking little girl to death in woods

Sheriff Byrnes said Tom Le Hew, 32, a woodchopper, confessed to attacking Teresa Johnson, 6, as she walked home from school near Mendocino City last week. He described waiting for her, leaping from the path, choking her to death and then awaiting murder charges.

Body of woman slain on river bank found near Cincinnati

The bullet riddled body of a woman, partially identified as Pauline Wilson, friend of George Murphy, a 40 year old Hamilton gangster, was found on the Big Miami River banks near Cincinnati two weeks after the shooting.

Five Die in Texas Tragedy Series
