City Postpones Buying Machine Guns for Police
Amarillo city commission delayed the purchase of two machine guns for the police amid emergency use only and bank protection plans. The guns cost 200 dollars each. An emergency ordinance requires garbage collectors to obtain a health department permit and pay a 50 dollar license. The measure follows contract disputes with Panhandle Trading. Three thousand feet of fire hose will be bought and a fire truck repair estimated at 500 dollars.
