The horse Me-O-My owned by J. H. Thompson of Dallas won the grand champion walking horse stake at the Amarillo Show. A blue ribbon and a silver platter trophy were presented, with Miss Elizabeth Allen acting as hostess for the Amarillo Horsemen's Association.
Rescue boats and cranes worked to reach the river depths after a Powell ferry crash likely sent about six cars and occupants into the water. Aaron House of Ridgley and Janice Eastwood of Croanville were aboard with another couple. survivor Rob ert Eastwood and Ann Thompson, both from Croanville, described seeing barge lights before impact.
