Miami Florida July 18 Wendler J H 64 mayor of Hialeah shot three times likely fatally by a special constable during arrest attempt. Dade County sheriff's department said a thorough probe followed.

Dalhart July 18 J L Stull a young farmer near Conlen north of Dalhart died in the local hospital from injuries after falling 30 feet from a wind mill while oiling it He became dizzy and fell fracturing his skull His remains will be shipped to Minneapolis for interment He is survived by a widow and one child Parts-Davis Auto Parts Co.
Tulsa report says the slayer of Fred Conner is expected to be arrested hourly. Sheriff P. H. Walters states investigators near on the trail of a man named George, last seen with Conner near the vehicle found south of Kress and later in Slat. Funeral services for Conner are planned in Swisher county Sunday with a large crowd anticipated.
The City of Amarillo faces offers from Southwestern Public Utilities to buy the water plant and distribution system. Prices quoted range from 750 000 for the distribution system to 950 000 for the entire plant, drawing Mayor Lee Bivins’s criticism as excessive and indefinite and prompting further city deliberations.
Cameron Texas July 18 Jack Moore was sentenced to fifty years in the penitentiary in connection with the death of J T Davis near San Gabriel several months ago. The jury was out only a few hours.
The Globe Oil company reports a strike at 2,170 feet in a well northeast of Shamrock. The well is shut down awaiting orders as stockholders including R. T. Emmet travel to the site. Gene Howe leads the Amarillo company as operations may resume today with production estimates due early next week.
Dallas July 18 Club women of Texas oppose the dismissal of Dr Car rie Weaver Smith as superintendent of the girls training school at Gainesville Mrs Agnes Stephens of Corsicana was appointed to the post by the state board of control at Austin Acting through the joint legislative conference they asked Gov Miriam A Ferguson to delay confirmation of Mrs Stephens appointment pending review of Dr Smiths dismissal The board of control was asked to provide charges for the governors consideration
Dallas authorities deny a second whipping by a mob near Wilmer in Dallas County. Sheriff Schuyler Jr says investigations in the past twenty four hours found no further violence. The rumors stem from the whipping of Clarence Brown after his confession of intimacy with a white woman.
The mangled bodies of two men identified as Isaac Page and Edgar Calhoun, 18, of Rogers Texas, were found near Goldthwaite Texas. Authorities believe both were killed by a Santa Fe train during the night. The incident closes with no further details available.
