Globe Well Blows In On Own Account

The Globe Oil Company well in South Wheeler county field blew itself in just before noon and has since been flowing oil spasmodically about every four minutes. The well, in Section 20, Block A-8S, Wheeler county, is surrounded by nearby wells and the Whittington producer. Drilling ceased Saturday with the bit one foot in the pay sand. Officials of the company are at the site awaiting developments. The flow from the oil sand indicates strong pressure and potentially good yields. The Globe well, down 2,166 feet, has faced previous heavy gas flows. The property is owned by Amarillo businessmen, with Gene Howe as president.
