The postoffice struggles to curb local letters mailed in air mail envelopes. It can only stamp a plea on the envelope, which then goes to the recipient by accident or fluke, leaving the offender unaware. The hope remains that someone will mail a local letter in an airmail envelope so the stamp message reaches the correct sender.
In Amarillo a local letter to the editor caused a stamp mix up. An air mail envelope with no local postage was returned for postage while an air mail envelope was used for a local letter. Post office clerks must then look up addresses in the directory and stamp letters with street details for proper routing.
The text complains that misaddressed mail delays justice as letters without street addresses may reach the offender. It praises post office workers for persistently stamping items, hoping messages eventually reach correct destinations.
