Kansas Builds Natural Gas Helium Plant
Construction has begun on a 1 million dollar helium extraction plant at Dexter Kansas to serve as the second such facility in the United States. The Kentucky Oxygen and Hydrogen company leads the project with government contracts for a large helium supply as the field around Dexter extends for miles and helium from natural gas gains aviation importance. Professor H P Cady of the University of Kansas earlier identified helium in Dexter gas, noting Dexter wells yield up to 2 percent helium while Fort Worth wells top at about 1 percent.
