Amarillo city manager reports 1300 tons of rock asphalt and plant mixed materials used to fill holes while seal coating consumes 30000 gallons of liquid asphalt and crushed stone to treat about 107000 square yards of pavement. Labor shortages limit grading and cleaning as funds run short.
James Paschal, a Amarillo youth, received ten professional photographs of George Gershwin and a personal letter from Ira Gershwin. Ira praised Amarillo youths for honoring his brother and noted Gershwin’s festival fame in New York and elsewhere. The autographs were from canceled checks and will join James’ Gershwin collection.

Judge James C. Wilson held a called session of the U S Federal Court this morning revoking Eugene Foster's parole and sentencing him to three years at Englewood Colorado. Arrell Calhoun's parole was left in effect pending a Coast Guard volunteer status decision. The two youths were brought from Fort Worth last night. Foster was charged with car theft and Calhoun with impersonating a naval officer. Mrs Zula Goode of Los Angeles is visiting her daughter Mrs Art Wagoner at 1829 Polk Street.

The Canadian River Gas Company marks its sixteenth anniversary with banquets at the Amarillo Hotel. Of 120 staff, 42 are on unlimited leave and in the armed forces. General manager R A Ford will award service pins for five ten and fifteen years, with 26 fifteen year pins, 17 ten year pins and 49 five year ribbons. The firm supplies natural gas to Amarillo Denver and Chicago and shows films from Colorado of the plant and pipelines to Denver and beyond. VW Germany reportedly produces over five billion gallons of gasoline and light oils per year from coal.
