The British officer said fighting in Yiunnan was at a standstill as the Salween was uncrossable, allowing China to strengthen defenses toward Kunming. He noted Japanese air raids wrecked many hospitals while Chinese forces reestablished order on the Burma Road and prepared a hot reception if the Salween is crossed after the rains.
