The Amarillo Garden Club will hold its annual picnic on Wednesday at 10 30 AM in the west end of Ellwood Park. Reservations should be made with Mrs J A Kendall at 5589 Mrs W D Sides at 22051 or Mrs Elwood Clark at 6030. Members may bring guests but reservations are required.
Mrs W R Wilson and her daughter hosted a shower for Mrs W M Haskin of Dalhart at 1627 Ong assisted by Mrs Joe O Conner of San Antonio. Pink carnation and blue delphinium arrangement graced the refreshment table as guests included E M Henderson Howard Randall Marcus Ford H C Gibson W W Sharp G Harvey Deahl Robert Epperson J E Doud Shelton Murray Paul A Jones R W Miller J T Webb Sybil Jones Margaret Ann O Connor Patsy O Connor Suzanne Doud and the honoree.
British hat designers unveil 90 fall and winter models by the Associated Millinery Designers of London led by frosty white headpieces and a range of colors from apricot to royal blue. Designs include a black tricorn with gray wig trim, wide-brimmed sailors, jeweled tunics, and a garden of pinks purples with flowers and veils, using fox felt and ermine details to emphasize variety and novelty.
Mrs C Don Hughes hosted informal coffees this week in Amarillo with her daughter in law Mrs Don Hughes Jr Marie Adair of Tuscaloosa Alabama attending. The Tuscaloosa visitors plan summer in Amarillo before returning to Alabama for studies at the University. Daisies decorated the rooms and a house party of social ladies assisted.

Members of the Queen City of the Plains Ladies Auxiliary to the Order of Railway Conductors will entertain their families at a picnic Sunday evening at 5 30 at the southeast corner of Ellwood Park. In case of rain the event moves to WOW Hall.
Personal photo notice from Amarillo highlights the May wedding of Helen Louise Garrett formerly of Amarillo to Robert J. Back of Los Angeles. The ceremony took place in the First Methodist Church chapel in Hollywood. Mrs Back is an Amarillo High School graduate who attended Amarillo College and belonged to Sigma Iota Chi Sorority.
Amarillo Assembly No. 19 of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls met at Khiva Temple with Miss Norma Roth presiding. Betty Moore was elected recorder for the remainder of the term. A swimming party and wiener roast are set for Monday July 8 at Gem Lake Pool to celebrate Mark Saxton's birthday. 25 members attended.
Mrs Noel Rickman and Mrs Le Roy Rickman hosted a tacky party for the Los Amores Class of the Tenth Avenue Methodist Church in the church parlor. Noel Rickman won the tackiest guest title. Guests included Virgil Lemaster Earl Blankenship Carter Veazey Fred Sharp Leroy Rickman Noel Rickman Mrs A R Hunsucker and Mrs Bob Maxwell with games and refreshments provided by the hosts.
Garden Clubs of the area meet in the Crystal Ballroom of the Herring Hotel on Tuesday at 10 30 AM to organize the District I Panhandle and High Plains area garden clubs into a council. Local club members will serve as hostesses.
Amarillo Army Air Field Officers' Wives Club will finish its activities with a luncheon on Monday at 1 30 at Longchamp's on Highway 66. Members should reserve by Saturday noon by calling the Pantex Administration Building at 2 6317 or 2 6771 extension 10 local 30.
Tonight the Buchanan Street Methodist Church Ladies Friendship Class hosts a picnic for husbands at Ellwood Park at 6 30. Pauline Moore Circle of the First Baptist Church meets at Mrs J W Sanders 2400 Hughes at 6 30. A Jam Jar party is set at the YWCA for 7 o clock. Saturday a Story Hour for Children is planned at Amarillo Public Library at 3 o clock.
The auxiliary held a holiday dance last evening in Carpenters Hall with music by Hugh Roden Gertrude Ezell Frank Hunter and Bob Leeds. Refreshments followed during the intermission. The group will meet for a social session on July 18 at 2 o clock at the home of Mrs. C P McCrary.
Members of the H. A. Shaw family gathered at 2113 Ong for a two week reunion. Mr. and Mrs. William Russell of Los Angeles visited, former Doris Shaw Mrs. Meeker of Dallas and her sons Charles II and Michael, and Mrs. Hugh L. Cox of Amarillo with family. Rye cultivation note mentions 1648 in New England.
