A Navy staffed Marine evacuation hospital in Okinawa completes evacuation of wounded. Nine wards in cellars ten feet deep, 21 wards in sandbag revetments, rest in tents with foxholes. May bombing killed 13 and wounded 31. hero corpsman killed shielding a patient. Ninety percent of cases were surgical. peak day 540 patients.
