The Amarillo Fire Department made two calls yesterday and last night. A trash fire east of the Santa Fe railroad station raged out of control but caused virtually no damage. Trash in a store room at the Herring hotel caught fire but did no damage.
The House opened a conference debate over a $24,000,000 prohibition enforcement provision added by the Senate to the deficiency appropriation bill. The move to convene conference between House and Senate members revived the wet and dry quarrel as lawmakers discussed parliamentary procedure.

Mary Elizabeth Ellis fourteen year old daughter of J A Ellis farmer living fifteen miles southeast of Canyon died when a fire swept the Ellis farm home at five in the morning. An explosion occurred as Henry Ellis tried to start a kerosene fire and the house was engulfed. All others escaped. Mary Elizabeth did not. Henry Ellis was taken to St Anthony’s hospital in critical condition but later reported resting well. The body lay in Griggs Thompson chapel at Canyon after recovery from the ruins.
Paris dispatch reports Marshal Ferdinand Foch, after a rapid recovery from illness, has a setback and must resume complete rest. An official communiqué cites a slight pulmonary congestion from convalescence that obliges the marshal to resume full repose. Dr. Davenieres notes prior heart attack and kidney issues but calls the condition not serious.
Six firemen battling a large laundry fire in Chicago were trapped when a brick wall collapsed. Fireman John J.
