A Texas Senate constitutional amendments committee indefinitely postponed a measure to raise the governor’s salary from 4000 to 12000 dollars. It also rejected submission of a bill to raise legislator pay and issued an adverse report on changes to the grand jury system including information based prosecutions.
A city commission report by Maj. E A Simpson says Amarillo can grant street access for gas pipes to connect with outside suppliers, despite an Amarillo Gas company franchise. West Palm Beach January 30 The infamous Ashley gang, long hunted by Sheriff Bob Baker, ends after Haywood Register dies from gunfire in an ambush near Boynton. Register and his desperado cohorts had eluded Raiford prison escapees until Baker and deputies cornered him, leading to a fatal exchange with officers.
Senator-elect Hamilton F. Keane said after a Hoover meeting that Dwight W. Morrow is definitely eliminated from consideration for Secretary of State. Keane indicated Morrow will likely remain Ambassador to Mexico, though Hoover did not state this directly.
Miss Jewell Davidson resigns as city secretary after six years of service with the city. She will become secretary of the Lee Bivins estate, effective March 1, and expressed deep gratitude to the city commission, management, and late Mayor Bivins.
A Texas judge will hand down a ruling in the Robison land suit in Travis county district court tomorrow. J T Robison land commissioner and intervenors oppose a state sought permanent injunction with the University of Texas regents to halt sale of oil and gas rights on university lands advertised for January 2. The case questions the constitutionality of a January 11 law removing all mineral rights from the market.
Merchants plan a city wide Dollar Day with unheard of bargains. Advertisements in The Globe and The News urge shoppers to buy early as indications point to Amarillo's greatest sales event ever staged in the city.
Brig. Gen. Albert C. Dalton vice-chairman and general manager resigns effective February 24. The U S Shipping Board confirms acceptance and Dalton plans months of travel before entering private shipping circles.
Hawaii flyer Martin Jensen was forced to land on the beach along Long Island's north shore after unable to gain altitude in a bid to set a new solo endurance record using automobile gasoline. The incident occurred today at Roosevelt Field, New York.

The Navy Department appropriation bill for FY 1930 totals 347,450,448 dollars, 14,845,346 less than last year and 1,644,684 under the budget bureau request. Admiral Hughes compares naval manpower at the conference, noting Britain leads US by over 10,000, with Japan third, and urges a 4,000 enlisted boost. The United States outnumbers Britain in Marines, 14,807 to 10,454.

Dallas Jan 30 The Adolphus Hotel denied seeking protection from federal prohibition agents. Senator Brookhart’s committee heard that Texas Republican leader ER Creager allegedly ordered such protection for the Adolphus and the Metropolitan Hotel in Fort Worth. Otto Schubert, Adolphus managing director, wired that the hotel never asked for protection and none is wanted. Griggs' Ambulance.
A foggy Texas like morning appears in Fort Worth with memories of the central and south regions. Citizens note the brief, chilly drift with slippery streets and frost that iced trees and fences. Temperatures dipped to 20 degrees, then rose as the sun broke through, ending the chill by noon.
Mrs Ada LeBoeuf and Dr Thomas Dreher, condemned for the murder of LeBoeuf’s husband near Morgan City July 1, 1927, near to hanged Friday between noon and 3 pm at Franklin jail in New Orleans. They abandoned further appeals and await execution.
