By a five to two vote the Louisiana state supreme court ruled Chief Justice O Niell lacked authority to grant a stay of execution for Ada Bonner LeBoef and Thomas E Dreher sentenced to hang for the murder of James Le Bouef. Chief Justice O Niell and Justice Thompson dissented. The court said the majority had already refused a stay, so the executions could proceed.
Col. Ernest Thompson formally announces his candidacy for mayor of Amarillo. He pledges a live and progressive administration and proposes a nationwide advertising campaign for cheap fuel and lowering water rates to cost. He calls for growth, attracting business, and expanding jobs by targeting merchants and manufacturers for new locations.
United Press report from Miami Beach says a statement that President-elect Hoover favored a navy second to none was officially denied. Lawrence Richey, Hoover's secretary, said Hoover did not discuss pending legislation as policy.

Kansas City police hold Leland Bashford, 34, of Amarillo Texas, on a kidnapping complaint filed by his wife Margaret Stevenson. Their 29 month old son Jack Bashford remains in a hospital while custody questions are resolved.

A feral wolf dog leader of a large pack raided livestock until shotguns and poison killed about half his followers. Ranchers formed posses but say they killed more than twenty dogs. the hound allegedly used a ranch to release the pack nightly. State supervisor E. Sands led the investigation.
