Federal revenue agents from Dallas conducted a raid in the Panhandle catching seven suspects. Five men jailed for liquor violations, one for narcotics, one on car theft. Cal White and Scott Vincent held on tax and whiskey charges. Gal Cornutt charged with illegal distilling. Narcotics case filed against A D Stevenson. Detroit Jan 26 1934 United Press reports an industrial army of 325000 workers mobilizes as auto plants meet a wave of new car orders surpassing 250 million dollars for 1934. 100000 join from last year unemployment. Factories recall thousands daily and expect employment near 1928 1920 peaks by February.
Inauguration of a move to interest youths in government takes place at 8 PM at the Municipal Auditorium. A dance at Roseland Ballroom follows, hosted by the Open Forum Club. Speakers include Mrs. Geraldine Green and Rev. J Hoyt Boles.
Chicago January 26 physicians reported slow but steady improvement in the condition of Melvin A. Traylor president of First National Bank who has been ill with pneumonia for more than a week. He woke and ate his largest meal since illness began cereal orange juice coffee and toast and slept well last night under an oxygen tent.
