Yale Scholarships Boost Freshmen From Amarillo High
Yale official Donald K. Walker told Amarillo High School seniors that about 30 percent of Yale's 950 incoming freshmen will receive scholarships averaging $800 annually. He noted Yale's undergraduate population will shrink from 4800 to about 3600 as enrollment plans adjust. Seven AHS seniors are applying for Yale admission for 1950-51, with decisions around May 15 after college board tests in March. Three 1949 AHS graduates attend Yale on last year’s scholarships, praised by Walker as fine representatives.
