Ice Skating Rink Planned for Tri-State Fair Park
County Judge Gene Jordan urged use of the livestock pavilion at Tri-State Fair Park for an ice skating rink and an ice show next April. Cory Detton, Amarillo promoter, would stage the show and convert the big barn for recreation, taking 90 percent of gross receipts. He said a public rink in the pavilion is feasible and folding seats could allow about 6,000 spectators, exceeding the auditorium capacity.

Two Die As Severe Storm Grips Nation From Great Lakes to Coast

Pair Arrested in Kidnaping Spree Across Southwest
J P Dry of Winters was abducted near Amarillo and Sayre Oklahoma tied to a tree and robbed of 40 dollars. Federal and state officers pursued two men who drove his car to Kansas City and Springdale Arkansas before arrest in Fayetteville and Oklahoma City on auto theft and suspected kidnapping charges. Dry escaped unharmed after the frightful ordeal.

Four Burglaries Charged in Amarillo Weekend
Four burglary charges and one assault with a prohibited weapon were filed after weekend break ins. Curtis Locke and Wayne Tuckness faced burglary charges for Sunday morning at Moose Lodge Hall. Locke also faces an assault count. Jim Pryor, with no fixed address, was jailed Sunday night on burglary charges. Kert LeRoy Baker, 18, Forest, Ill., is charged with burglary at the Dobbs House Cafe office at Amarillo Air Terminal. Baker was arrested after midnight Sunday in the Greyhound Bus Station. Chief J L King said Baker admitted the break involved $16.92.
