Mayor Joe Jenkins notes voter approval and stresses prudent use of funds. Bonds will be sold in two groups with sewer revenue bonds separate. bids will come from investment bankers after notices. Plans include park and street improvements, building and garage projects, with surveys needed to set sewer service charges and interest rates. Voter tallies show strong support: sewer revenue 497 to 131, street 507 to 111, garage and shop 504 to 119, park 490 to 135.

Officers say at least four forgeries have been cleared up with the arrest of two teenage youths by the sheriff's department. Onyce Barton, 17, is held in the county jail on a $1000 bond after a December forgery charge. He was free on a three year suspended theft sentence from September. A second youth remains in custody.
