New Water Main South of Highway Plans
City public works director H R Smith announced a project to extend a large water main south of Canyon Highway to improve service after last summer’s shortages. He noted the problem stemmed from inadequate mains, not a general shortage, with the area currently served by a 2 inch line that could only deliver about 160 gallons per minute. Plans call for a 10 inch main crossing the south end, feeding existing lines from both ends while the north end supply is replaced.
