In Dallas, Juvenile Judge Sara T. Hughes ordered two girls aged 15 and 17 to the State Training School at Gatesville until age 21 after they attacked a county jail matron named Kassie Mae Chandler, causing a fatal fall. The petitions allege the attempt to escape led to her death the next day.
Paul Nolan Jr., 11, son of Mr and Mrs Paul Nolan of 3208 Polk, improved this morning at St Anthony s Hospital after a shotgun blast yesterday afternoon while hunting near a pond across the Santa Fe tracks from 3900 block Taylor in Amarillo. Doctors warn he may lose his left arm as a result of the injury and transfusions were needed for heavy bleeding.
