Classes in radio tactics observation map reading and air corps work will start soon and all officers will be in uniform for tomorrow's meeting.
Six new students enrolled at Amarillo High School this morning. Named are Wallace Anders from Altus Oklahoma Bobbie Jean Wilson from Amherst Thomas Hart from Albuquerque Dorothy Gilber from Arizona Vandel Tatum Jr from Machoochee Valley Georgia and Billie Grage Jr from Akron Ohio. Principal R B Norman noted such moves are unusual near semester end and added 26 students who had spent holidays off school with mumps have returned.
Amarillo's rationing board Rolla Cartwright Chansler Weymouth and Bill Boyce will not begin to function until detailed instructions are received from state administrator Mark McGee in Austin. Local board members appointed by Mayor Joe Jenkins and County Judge Ernest Northcutt said today that instructions credentials oath of office and other information had not been received. No meeting of the new board has occurred.
The South Amarillo Club will hold its monthly directors meeting at the Edgefield Grocery tonight at 7 oclock. Plans for a poll tax drive will be among the matters discussed, according to Bob White, club president.
The county judge reported Governor Stevenson issued a production management freeze today halting all sales of new passenger cars and trucks through January 15, 1942. The order targets producers and dealers, forbids transfers, and requires mayors to notify dealers and use police to enforce immediate compliance.
Rep. Donald H. McLean of New Jersey urged establishing a new time system that would place all states east of the Mississippi into the Eastern Standard Time zone as Congress weighs Roosevelt's push for nationwide daylight saving. Clarude Barton, 34, of Lubbock was killed when a butane gas truck he was driving overturned Saturday night near Hale Center. The accident left Barton fatally injured and the driver’s fate confirmed by authorities.
McDonald Auto Supply Company salesmen and other employees will gather at 7 oclock tonight at the Capitol Hotel for a special session called by Thompson Products Corporation manufacturers of replacement parts. Ray Swarner of Kansas City Western division sales manager will conduct the meeting assisted by Dan Petit Amarillo district representative. About 20 McDonald employees are expected to attend.
