Four gunmen accosted John Coleman on a dark street in Denver. They forced him to open his mouth and removed his gold dental bridges valued at 66 dollars, then stripped him of clothing, glasses and shoes.

Cornell University announced its scientists will join a Pacific Ocean expedition to observe a June solar eclipse. The event, the longest in 1,200 years, will last up to seven minutes and forty seconds and cross the international date line, making June 9 begin and June 8 end in the observers’ locale.
Clarence Rounsaville, Electra gas station operator, was hijacked by a man who took $65 from the cash register and safe, forced Rounsaville to drive to Childress in a stolen Electra car, then released him. The hijacker later fled and authorities learned of the incident around 2 a.m.
The Texas House passed an enabling act for a constitutional amendment to create a new pardon and parole board. The plan would place the board in Huntsville. the Senate prefers Austin. A conference committee will draft the final bill after differences are reconciled. The move follows Governor Allred urging rapid action.
Miss Florine Roberts aged 19 was beaten in a Fort Worth night club and left in serious condition with possible brain concussion. Mrs Gladys McDaniel 28 faced aggravated assault charges after witnesses said Roberts provoked the fight and struck first with a beer bottle. Police raided the club arresting 30 people for questioning.
Hollywood producer Samuel Goldwyn criticizes the Dickstein bill aiming to bar foreign actors, calling it ridiculous. He argues tariffs cannot apply to talent and compares it to banning foreign books and plays, urging a smarter approach to American safety.
The second trial of Glen Kendrick versus Amarillo Transfer and Storage Company is under way in 108th Civil District Court on a warehouseman's bond. Kendrick seeks about 2700 in damages. County Commissioner John Winters announced today that T. C. Brown of 1605 Hillcrest Avenue has been appointed a court house janitor, highlighting the appointment as part of county facilities staffing.
In Norman Oklahoma the family of Sam H Wilson learns at services that the supposed dead man is alive. Wilson a 70 year old paralysis patient at Central State Hospital had not been told of the burial. His wife and son identified another patient Sam W Wilson as him. Daughter Pearl Royce refused to accept the body. Hospital officials cited the striking resemblance between the two patients.
Jeff M. Neely announced that Amarillo received a first place Fire Prevention Award from the National Fire Protection Association recognizing Amarillo as Texas top entry. Chief George Cooper will display the certificate alongside other Amarillo honors after Abilene shared the state lead and the contest ran October 4 to 10, 1936.
District Federal Court Justice James M. Proctor refused John S. Farnsworth’s request to plead not guilty and stand trial, on charges he conspired to share U S naval secrets with Japan.
A revival at the First Christian Church drew a fine audience as Dr. Roy Snodgrass led the campaign with the sermon What Must the Church Do To Be Saved. Music was directed by Ralph Pollock. H A Shaw will sing tonight. Bible School classes attend in reserved sections.
Rep. Hobbs of Alabama urges Congress to authorize sound picture recording in federal district courts to guarantee fair justice and aid appeals. He cites a 30 year legal career and calls the method Simon Pure.
Paris reports 65 year old J. Frank Jones, a former Lamar County commissioner and stock barn worker, died after a horse kick here yesterday. He leaves a widow and three children.
The Ontario Court of Appeals ruled the Baby Race clause in Charles Vance Millar will valid. It also held that illegitimate children of competing mothers could not be counted to determine the $500,000 prize winner for Toronto’s most prolific mother over 10 years.
J Edgar Hoover said the harboring of criminals is aided by parents who pamper their children. He noted a federal probe into numerous public enemies found none could exist without help from other persons.
