Amarillo Youth Gain Military Training From Guard and Reserve
The 142nd Infantry Regiment of the National Guard has a rich two war legacy including a Presidential Citation in World War II. The Naval Reserve Training Center at Ninth and Rusk trains high school and college youths with radar radio and gunnery instruction. Combined payrolls exceed $300,000 annually, with Guard and Reserve assets valued at over two million dollars. Both units aided local tornado recovery in May and offer regional emergency support to Panhandle towns.
