The Texas Railroad Commission approved removing one night train each way on the Dallas Amarillo route effective after Feb 15. The decision, by a two to one vote, follows a Monday hearing and affects two Denver trains, with Amarillo gaining improved service while 22 workers may be affected by the consolidation.

If dismissed Butler could forfeit retirement pay. analysis estimates await. Butler, 49, with 32 years in the Marines, would retire with reduced or no pension depending on outcome.
Henry Ansley of the El Paso Times and Herald reports a German opera performance last night described as outstanding in the past decade. All artists pleased in roles and critics note enthusiastic music lovers and several ovations for Dr. Max Von Schilling and the orchestra.

Ethel Barrymore, famed stage star, will appear in Amarillo on April 17 in The Love Duel at the Municipal Auditorium under Tri-State Fair auspices. Barrymore recently starred in Scarlet Mary in New York with the Shubert company. Wilbur C. Hawk, president, announced the appearance.
Rome reports a plot to assassinate Premier Mussolini by anarchist Michele Sehirru. Sehirru, arrested after arriving on an Argentine passport, bought bombs in Liege and confessed plans to attack high government officials in Paris last summer.
The Crippled Children Council minettes and cast of Scandals of 1931 are to meet in the University Club room Commerce Building. Girls at 7 o clock and men at 8 with 82 chorus members under Ruth Espedal. The minstrel for March will aid crippled children in the Panhandle.
Frank Gamblin of the Amatillo Police Department has reported back to headquarters for duty after a period of illness.
Amarillo High School Band furnished music for the American Legion mass meeting held Thursday night at Municipal Auditorium. Under the direction of Prof. Oxcar Wise the show featured spirited performances for attendees.
Mystery novels will be adapted into 15 minute radio installments on WABC and sister stations starting next Monday evening. The first story will be Murder by the Clock with Rosaline Green in a leading role as the mystery unfolds across the week culminating on Saturday with the Last Chapter revealing the solution.
Edgar Lee Masters author of Lincoln the Man calls Abraham Lincoln lazy dishonest and unfit for the people in a New York report. Masters, famed for Spoon River Anthology, says Lincoln showed privilege and ambition rather than virtue amid Civil War politics.
