Berlin reporting the opposition led by 107 Fascist deputies walked out of the Reichstag as Dr. Julius Curtius spoke. He insisted Germany will not destroy the Young reparations plan and noted international law binds obligations while warning the world has shifted since the Hague conference. The fascists vowed not to return until defending the nation against parliament attacks with allies from Nationalist and Landyork factions.
Early trading saw a strong bull run led by major issues with many gains of $1 to $3. Auburn surged to $191 before retreating about half its morning rise, while American Telephone American Can General Motors and Bethlehem Steel slipped slightly from prior closes. Allied Chemical posted a loss of over $2 as other names sagged. U S Steel faded from a $1.62 intraday gain.
United Press reports in Austin that communists gathered outside Gov. Ross Sterling's office at noon with placards seized by Ranger Captain Frank Hamer. Despite the seizure, demonstrators voiced their demands while banners from El Paso Fort Worth Dallas and Houston appeared. Governor Sterling and Adjutant General Bill Sterling led a ranger presence among sheriffs and motor police as the crowd listened to speeches.
In a North Taylor Avenue saloon early today three gunmen entered shouting stick em up and opened fire. Two women Bessie Lymann 30 and Dorothy Evans 37 were killed and William Goebel was critically wounded. police say he is brother of the late gangster Dewey Goebel.
Charles Howard owner of the leopard exhibited in a drug store was found not guilty of negligent homicide in the November attack that fatally injured 4 year old James Evins in Lamb County. The leopard was later killed after being moved to Clovis New Mexico.

After three witnesses testified the prosecution rested before noon in the Pope Farrell trial on receiving and concealing stolen property. Judge Bishop overruled a defense motion for verdict of not guilty. Evidence showed clothing items identified as property of F. E. Herring found at Pope and Farrell’s house, with deputies corroborating. The defense planned to present witnesses after reconvening at 1:30. Other trials: Campbell not guilty for DUI, Susineta given two years with suspended burglary sentence, Manard jailed 30 days for aggravated assault.
A survey to set a new schedule of fire insurance rates for Amarillo began Tuesday with Texas insurance department representatives Eugene Smith and H D Johns setting up offices at city hall. The survey will take at least two months and will be joined by three more officials by week’s end.
President Hoover donated ten percent of his annual salary to the Red Cross for flood sufferers. His salary of 75000 was increased by a personal gift of 7500, bringing his total to 7,303,116 toward the 10,000,000 goal. A nationwide Red Cross relief broadcast is planned Thursday from 8:30 to 9 p m.
Two reception posts will carry Pope Pius XI addresses to American listeners using short wave receivers linked to network headquarters. HVJ Vatican City station broadcasts will be picked up by RCA’s Riverhead facility, with a dedicated wire line sending the signal to the chain.
In Wheeler Texas Tom C Johnson a former deputy sheriff faced trial for the Shamrock lunchroom slaying of George Brooks. The defense introduced self defense and insanity with three witnesses testifying including Johnson who claimed Brooks attacked him with a hammer five months earlier and warned by others Brooks threatened to kill him.
New York February 10 six indictments charging felonies were returned in connection with the closure of the Bank of United States. Prominent figures named include Isidore J. Kresel Bernard K. Marcus Simon H Kugel Saul Singer and C Stanley Mitchell among bank officials and affiliates.

Highway contracts totaling 7.4 million dollars will be let by the Texas highway commission on February 27 and 28. The program covers 440 miles of road, seven bridges and about 170 miles of concrete paving across 41 counties with federal aid and the $5 million loan.
President Hoover signed the Wagner bill enabling advance planning of public works to combat unemployment. Senator Wagner of New York and Representative Graham of Pennsylvania crafted the measure and Hoover praised its potential to improve relief organization, crediting Edward Hunt and Otto Mallory for key ideas.
